How habit streaks work in Forge

A streak in Forge is the run of consecutive calendar months in which you scored at least one point. It is not a daily counter, and there is no streak freeze or shield to buy: score in a month and the run continues, go a whole month without scoring and it resets to zero. Your best run ever is kept alongside the current one.

The streak counts months you scored in, so one missed day never wipes the record.

Monthly, not daily

Most habit apps count days, which makes the counter fragile: one missed evening and months of work go to zero, so people start protecting the number instead of the habit. Forge counts months. A month in which you scored keeps the run going, so a bad week costs you points and days, but not the streak.

The days still matter - they are what earns the points in the first place. They just are not what the streak is measured in.

What keeps a streak alive

Points. You earn them by winning days in a challenge and by winning the challenge itself, with the win bonus growing with its length - 3, 7, 14 or 30 days. Any point earned in the month counts, so a single short challenge won is enough to keep a run intact.

Two counters are kept: the current run, ending at your most recent scoring month, and the longest run you have ever put together. Breaking the current one never erases the best one.

What a streak unlocks

A three-month run earns the On Fire badge, and a six-month run earns Unstoppable. Both are awarded on your best run, so they stay earned once you have them.

Separately from streaks, your lifetime points climb 10 levels, from Ember to Mythic, and never reset. The monthly Top 100 leaderboard does reset on the 1st of each month, and it ranks winners only.

Keeping one going

The practical trick is to always have a challenge running. The free plan lets you run one challenge you started at a time, at any length, and challenges you are invited to are unlimited - so being the person who accepts invitations is a cheap way to keep scoring. Short 3-day challenges are the low-effort way to reopen a month you have been quiet in.
